Bill joins the AYS Crew in the Fall of 2020. Born in the Netherlands and then emigrating to the US, he grew up in Baltimore, completed college at UMBC with a Bachelor's in Political Science and Associates in Criminal Justice. Bill retired from State Service after 23 years and continued working for several years as a federal contractor. In 2015 he began working at West Marine in Tracey's Landing (Herrington Harbour North) where he learned about boat systems, maintenance, and repair. Through his work at West Marine, he developed close ties with the sailing community in Tracey's Landing and hopes to help those friends with any boating needs they may have. Bill found his interest in sailing piqued after the U.S. Sailboat Show in 1990, he soon attended the Annapolis Sailing School and after several charters on the Chesapeake Bay, even one ending with a couple of broken ribs, he decided to buy his own boat in 2005. His family has sailed the Bay from the C&D Canal to Solomons and he hopes to do some coastal sailing in 2021. He and his wife live in Calvert County and have 2 grown daughters, and 3 grandsons they love to spoil. Bill will be working out of the Herrington Harbour North office.
